Skillagogo Mobile Website Redesign

Prototype: Skillagogo Mobile Website Redesign

Skillagogo tasked us with redesigning their website, where we identified challenges and constructed solutions to enable a better user experience and design.

 

What is Skillagogo?

Skillagogo is a platform for class providers to post about their classes, and for class takers to book and purchase classes.

 

Scoping

Survey:
We conducted a survey with 65 respondents in order to understand people’s thoughts and behaviours regarding personal interest and professional advancement courses. This allowed us to narrow our scope in order to set boundaries for this project.

 
  • Primarily interested in baking/cooking classes

  • Users aged 20-39

  • Primarily use mobile devices for browsing

 
 

What’s the problem?

Participants were more concerned with the lack of activity on the website rather than the usability of it, as they questioned the credibility of it and whether there was anyone actually using it.

Competitive Analysis:
We then conducted a competitive analysis in order to find out how Skillagogo fared among other similar platforms. We deduced that the main issue with Skillagogo was not the usability of the platform, but rather the business and marketing strategy.

We proposed to our client to either work on a business/marketing strategy for them, or to continue redesigning their website as planned, and our client decided on the latter, therefore we proceeded with our redesign process.

Areas for Improvement:
We identified specific areas for improvement, such as altering the review system, how classes are displayed and the search function. These were identified through our usability test and areas we found participants had issues with.

User Research & Interviews:
We conducted user interviews with 8 class providers and 6 class takers in order to understand their general habits as well as their goals and pains.

Personas & Customer Journey Maps:
We created personas and customer journey maps based on the data gathered from our user interviews and usability tests. We focused on our primary personas due to time constraints.

How Do we improve it?

Design Goals:

 
  • To facilitate user-friendly experience for the search and book process

  • To establish confidence and trust to both class providers and class takers to grow a new marketplace for classes

  • To facilitate personal branding for class providers

 

Wireframe Usability Test:
We conducted usability tests on our first wireframe prototype with 3 users.

Hi-Fi Prototype Usability Test:
This was our final prototype test, where we tested with 2 class providers and 3 class takers.
